Prep School Tutor was founded by Penny six years ago.  The aim was to offer the very best quality tutoring to children in need of one-on-one support, whether for a brief or extended period in their learning.  Penny's background is almost entirely in the Prep School world with five years' teaching French at the Dragon School in Oxford, and then seven years as Head of MFL at King’s College Junior School in Wimbledon.  She has extensive classroom experience and understands how to complement learning at school when tutoring individuals.  

 

The company started out with just Penny teaching French online and has now grown to include a team of over thirty teachers, expert in tutoring their specialist subject.  Every tutor is a trained and qualified teacher with a minimum of three years' experience teaching in the private sector.  Most have a great deal more.  They are also all DBS checked. Penny has interviewed, trained and seen every one of her tutors teaching.  She has taken time to get to know them and to ensure that they are on the same page in terms of high expectations when preparing and delivering lessons but also in really caring for the progress of every student. 
 

Prep School Tutor's niche is firstly in preparing children for pre-test assessments, which are growing ever more popular as part of the major public schools entry system.  Children are asked to sit exams as early as Year 5 and usually need some help outside of school to prepare.  Then there is a shift in gear towards preparing children for 11+ and 13+ Common Entrance Exams and Scholarship exams as well.  In the last couple of years, Prep School Tutor has expanded through growing demand to include teaching IGCSE across a broad subject range as well.  We are excited by this growth and look forward to expanding our reach.  Do get in touch to see how we can help.
