Alleyn's: This is a co-educational day school for children aged 4-18. There are 1252 children on roll. It is academically selective and assesses children both through written exams and then interview. Those wishing to start at Alleyn's in Year 7 (age 11-12) take 11+ exams in January of Year 6 (aged 10-11). These are not the ISEB 11+Common Entrance Exams but rather assessments created in-house at Alleyn's. The subjects tested are English, Maths and Reasoning. The decision on whether a place is offered depends on the 11+ exams, an interview and a report from the child's current school. Candidates are interviewed by a member of the 11+ Admissions Panel, consisting of members of staff, members of the Senior Management Team, Housemasters and the Heads of Mathematics and English. The formal written assessments are followed by small group activities and a one to one interview the next day. Overseas students are required to complete the 11+ entrance assessments at Alleyn’s in London. For children transferring from Alleyn's Junior School through to the senior school, they do need to sit the Senior School’s 11+ Entrance Examinations. If they perform well, they would expect an unconditional place. However, if their marks were to fall short of the standard required, they may be offered a probationary period of two years in the lower School (Years 7 and 8) where their progress would be assessed and monitored. There is also a 13+ entry. Again, Alleyn's does not use the ISEB 13+ Common Entrance Examinations but rather provides its own assessments in Mathematics, English, Science and a modern foreign language. These are taken in the January before admission the following September. Those who are successful will be invited for interview. Entry at sixth form is requires an application form to be submitted (with a personal statement), examination and interview. The examination includes quantitative reasoning to test mathematical skills and qualitative reasoning assessing the analysis of written information. There is also a critical writing paper. Scholarships and financial assistance are available at 11+ and 16+. Admissions at other entry points depends on whether a place is available. https://www.alleyns.org.uk/admissions
