Downe House: This is a girls only day and boarding school for 590 girls aged 11 to 18. 11+ entry - Downe House have an Assessment Day in September of Year 6 (age 10-11) and, based on this, they will offer a conditional place. This involves activities, exams and interviews. Girls are then invited to sit the 11+ Common Entrance. Downe House uses the ISEB 11+ entrance papers. This is taken at their own school in January of Year 6 (age 10-11). Scholars will be identified. 13+ entry – there is am assessment day in October of Year 8 then Common Entrance or the Academic Scholarship exams follow in January. Alternatively, girls can take the pre-assessment in Year 6. 16+ entry – girls take 3 exam papers; 2 in subjects to be studied at A-Level and a general paper. A minimum of 7 GCSEs at grade 6 or above is expected preferably with grades 7 to 9 in subjects to be studied for A-Level. Overseas students are supported with visa applications.
