Downside School

Downside School: This is a co-educational day and boarding school for 350 students aged 11 to 18. For 11+ into Year 7 or 12+ into Year 8, children take the Downside Junior Assessment Test. This consists of entrance papers in English and Maths. The Junior Assessment Test is held at Downside, although assessment papers can be sent to schools overseas. Downside do not use the ISEB 11+ Common Entrance Exam. For 13+ entry into the Senior School, children are prepared for 13+ Common Entrance Exams. The expectation is that, if successful with 11+ entry, they will pass with a minimum of 50% across all subjects either the Common Entrance examinations and/or for the Common Scholarship examinations. Overseas students who have English as a second language are required to take the UKiset test available in 130 countries worldwide. There is a one-year intensive GCSE programme for overseas students.
