Oundle: This is a co-educational day and boarding school for 1107 pupils aged 11 to 18. Applicants should contact the school early as most boarding houses fill up 3 years in advance of entry. 11+ entry is based on a written exam in January of Year 6 with papers in Maths, English, Science and a Cognitive Ability Test. There will also be an interview. 13+ entrance exams are at the end of Year 8 in June. Students take the ISEB 13+ Common Entrance Exams unless their school does not prepare for these entrance exams. In this case, sit Oundle’s own entrance exams in the January before entry in September. The entrance exams consist of papers in Maths, English, Science and a Modern Foreign Language. The scholarship exam is in May and is purely honorary. 16+ entry requires a minimum of 3 A’s and 3 B’s at GCSE. Most will have all A’s or A*. There is an assessment weekend in November involving a General Paper and 2 other papers. Interviews are also arranged. Overseas candidates can sit the exams in their own country at the British Council office. A UKiset test is required which is an adaptive cognitive ability test measuring ability and language proficiency.
