Sherborne School: This is a boys day and boarding school for 540 pupils aged 13 to 18. 13+ entry - Registration is generally in Year 5, or before and, following this, Sherborne encourages group visits by parents with or without their children. In Year 6, there is an opportunity to meet various housemasters and then, in Year 7, Sherborne hold a 'Sherborne At Work Day' to see the school in action. All registered pupils are then invited to an assessment day at Sherborne in March of Year 7. This consists of an online test, writing, interviews and group activities. A reference will also be requested. Following these pre-tests, a place may be offered. 16+ entry is based on an entrance assessment in Year 11 and conditional offers may be made. Scholarships applicants for 13+ entry take the Common Academic Scholarship Exam in Year 8. For 16+ scholarships at least six GCSEs at grades 8 or 9 are expected. There are also online tests, an interview and 2 subject papers. Overseas students take the UKiset exam, an online test of vocabulary, maths and non-verbal reasoning.
