South Hampstead High School
South Hampstead High School: This is a day school for 929 girls aged 4 to 18. 4+ entry is by an initial assessment similar to a play date. Half of the girls will be invited back for a further assessment and reference requested. 7+ entry involves 3 written papers in November based on the Year 2 National Curriculum. If successful a further group assessment is in January. 11+ is the main point of entry to the senior school. The school is a member of the 11+ London Girls Consortium consisting of 12 schools in London. From 2019 there is a new bespoke cognitive ability test which is 70 minutes long. The format is CEM and consists of questions covering required and an interview testing problem solving, critical thinking and creativity is conducted. The results can be shared with other schools in the consortium maths, verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning. It is not online and there are no other written assessments. Most questions are multiple choice. Entry for Year 7 is taken in January of Year 6. The exam is not ISEB 11+ Common Entrance. References from the current school are also required and a separate application must be made for each school. Overseas candidates may be able to sit the entrance exam at their own school. 16+ entry require a minimum of 7 grade 8-9 GCSEs. Scholarships are available at 11+ and 16+ and no separate application is needed.
