St Mary’s Shaftesbury: This is a girls only day and boarding school for 200 pupils aged 9 to 18. For 11+ entry St Mary’s Shaftesbury holds an entrance examination day in January. This includes assessment in Maths, English and Non-Verbal Reasoning and there are also group activities. These 11+ entrance exams are created by the school and are not the ISEB 11+ Common Entrance Exams. 13+ entry is through the ISEB Common Pre-Test taken in prep schools in Year 7. In January of Year 8 there is an assessment day with interview. The Common Entrance Exam is taken in June of Year 8 and a level of 50% is required. 16+ entry is based on predicted GCSE grades and sometimes an exam. Scholarships are worth 10% fee remission and there are separate exams. Overseas students take the same exams but it may be possible to do these overseas. An interview and reference are required.
