St Paul’s School (Boys): This is predominantly a day school with 1444 boys aged 7 to 18. There are 33 boarders aged 13 to 18. The school is made up of the Junior School for ages 7 to 13 (previously Colet Court) and the Senior School for ages 13 to 18. 7+ and 8+ entry involves written papers in English, Maths and Reasoning. If successful they are interviewed and a reference may be requested. There is automatic transfer to the Senior School at 13+. 11+ entrants sit the ISEB Common pre-test online in November of Year 6. This test is designed by GL and includes English, Maths, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning components. Successful candidates will then take a written exam in January covering Maths and English. The English paper contains 45 minutes comprehension and 45 minutes composition. The Maths paper is 1-hour, non-calculator and involves calculations and problem solving. If successful boys will be called to interview. For 13+ entry, registration needs to be in Year 5. In the autumn of Year 6 (age 10-11), all candidates will sit the ISEB Common pre-tests online. This, along with a school report, will determine whether a candidate is offered an interview. Interviews are in January of Year 6 and will involve short Maths and English questions as well as the interview. Candidates must choose between entry at 11+ or 13+. Boys who are successful with the 11+ pre-tests will receive a conditional offer. This is subject to an equivalent standard of performance being shown either at 13+ Scholarship or in 13+ Common Entrance Exams with a minimum of 70%. 16+ entrants take an exam in their chosen subject. Papers in problem solving and critical thinking are also taken. Candidates may then be invited to interview. For overseas applicants boarding is possible. Entrants at 13+ and 16+ may take some exams at their own school. The UKiset must be taken if English is not the first language and the IELTs test with a minimum level of 7.5. St Paul’s can sponsor visa applications. Scholarships are honorary and a nominal value of £60 per year.
